Shadow Minstrels – Great Expectations

Great Expectations
The Shadow Minstrels were from the underground art scene in Los Angeles in the early 80′s. They played allot at Al’s bar, The Lingerie Club and Madame Wong’s West. They also played theoretical events and were a major part of the art scene. Bass player Zap played for a little while in other bands like: The Fiends, The Happy Bats, Powertrip and 45 Grave. Zap was well known in the L. A. scene. If you liked the first Sturm Group album, you’ll very much like this  little new wave/post punk album.  Great Expectations was released on vinyl as a mini album by Pterodactyl Records (FOS-L-ONE) in 1983.

Tracks:
  1. The Guest
  2. Time She Stopped
  3. Mardi Gras
  4. Popular Song Of The Hour

Sodom – St. Requiem

St. Requiem
This is the first in a few requests about the Japanese band Sodom. Sodom was formed as a punk band by Zazie with some friends from school, in 1981, Japan. They played hardcore punk until 1984 – 1985, by that time they where, much like Sadie Sads, fascinated with the industrial scene, and started experimenting with sound which resulted in a more post punk/industrial sound. In 1987 they left the whole post punk/industrial sound, and started making house music, which resulted in a few releases, until they dissolved the band in 1991. Some band members like Zazie where busy with there solo projects, and stayed active in the music scene. in 2007 Zazie reformed Sodom under the name: “The Sodom Project”. This is a release from there punk period, good old hardcore punk. St. Requiem was released as a cassette by Gomorrah Records (SM-T1) in 1984. Cassette album in 7″ single’s Sleeve.

An Bene / Pierre Lambow – Sustained Space

Sustained SpaceIt seems that An Bene was A Produce’s (The founder of Trans Port Tapes, ambient composer) girlfriend at the beginning of the 1980′s. And Pierre Lambow was his collaborator, both A Produce and Pierre Lambow played in the rock group “The Blank Ensemble” in the 1970′s. Pierre Lambow left this world in 1992. By this connection you can guess that the style of this release is a blend between ambient and minimal electronics. Sustained Space was released as a cassette by Trans Port Tapes (trance 3) in 1983.

Tracks:
  1. Celestial
  2. Primitive Hunt
  3. Raga Riley
  4. L.A. Mantra

M.T.T. Mauro Teho Teardo Featuring Nurse With Wound & Ramleh – Caught From Behind

Caught From Behind

This is the first album from Mauro Teho Teardo or M.T.T. with help from Nurse With Wound and Ramleh. Excellent experimental album from this Italian musician, composer and sound designer, the influence of both NWW and Ramleh is very audible on the album, as M.T.T. had no idea of how to get an album together and their records (NWW and Ramleh) were so inspiring, so he thought that their help could have been good for me. And The result is this little jewel. Caught From Behind was released on vinyl by Minus Habens (MHR 006) in 1990.
